NAFSI AFRIKA ACROBATS .

NAFSI Afrika is a Swahili word denoting “The soul of Africa”
We are spiritually and purposefully united in actions embodying love and trust, to create solution to African problems through Theatre, dance, creative arts and percussion.

Nafsi is registered under the Kenyan ministry of culture and social services.

ACTIVITIES 
Sexual health education, conflict resolution, theatre for social change, yoga, games, arts and crafts based programmes, field trips, photography and video editing programmes.
Music, Dance and Acrobatics professional performances, trainings, workshops and master classes.

Goals and Dreams

  1. Build an Orphans/Street Children home/Educational and Art center that will also serve as a circus academy and run orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) foster programmes, ICT programmes, and arts and crafts production.
  2. Run cultural and social exchange programmes that encourage social, responsible, sustainable tourism and eco-tourism. This will be a community based product that try to turn a profit whilst also taking care of environment and community  social impacts.
  3. Run Social enterprises (Computer Assembling/ Tele centers, cultural Centers, Peace/Resource Centers) that would employ the Youths.

As independent thinkers we seek an answers to, How can we create a world without Poverty?
Poverty is a great threat to Peace.

Upcoming activities

Through our Viatu (Shoes project), we are planning to integrate our street Children empowerment programme with the Aga-Khan Foundation schools students community outreach programme.
In September Children from our informal training grounds will be picked daily in a bus and taken to the Aga-khan Academy where they will work on joint Artistic Creations.

Accomplished Activities

2006- Under the K.C.D.F “Changamoto” funding did a Project “Saana mapipani” (Arts in from the Bins). An empowerment Project for Street Children and produced a documentary on the same named striding from the streets.

2006- Travelled to Italy and exhibited a notable performance “Peace-Pace”.
Also gave workshops, master classes and attended discussion forums, interviews in Televisons and made news in Bergamo Newspaper.

2007- Travelled to Holland  on a Mundial drama, dance and acrobatics Exchange programme with Fonte school.

2007- Travelled to Torino- Italy for the Agape  Ecumenico Global Youth Conference the theme being environmental conservation.
2007- Travelled to Holland to give workshops to Refugee children on invitation by the Circus capriool.

2007- Travelled to Tanzania and Ghana on exchange programme with cultural performance groups in Tanzania (Tunahaki children home and bagamoyo arts center) and Ghana(Niyam dancers).

2007- Joined Yogis by participating in the Global Mala Peace Event in Nairobi.

2008- Travelled to Zambia to give workshops and Acrobatics training to the  Koinonia Muthunzi children home in Lusaka.

2008- Travelled to Norway for a 6mins performance organized by Artist galla and Dinamo Story to fundraise for Red Cross.( Dinamo Story-Norway (www.dinamo.no)

 

2008- Helped in restoring Peace and preventing genocide in Kenya through our Pyramid of Peace initiative (www.pyramidofpeace.net).

2008- Travelled to Lithuania and Latvia and attended the European Union Thematic Network forum hosted by our online Forum- Minciu Sodas Laboratory.

2008- Under K.C.D.F  “C hangamoto” funds run a Peace/ Poverty eradication sensitization Project coined “ Viatu”
Managed to raise over 2000 shoes that were distributed through the Peace caravan running through the turmoil affected regions.

Others- Took yoga events to the nomadic tribes-maasai- under “Karma Kula yoga Project”, Did an Africa/ Indian symbiosis choreographed Show coined “Nyungu”(Pot), Participate in the annual Nairobi Peace March organized by Koinonia community.
Performed in the Barclays English Premier Cup tour around Kenya, Annual performances at the Oltukai Amboselli lodge.
